The term "Business Intelligence" is usually understood as a transformation of the available information into the analytical  form that is used to take decisions in order to optimize the business processes in the organization. BI consists of issues such as: practices, methodologies and technologies connected with data analysis. In many cases, BI is associated or even identified with data warehouses but the term "BI" is used  both for simple reporting systems and for complicated analitical systems including the areas of the so-called "Data Mining" and "Fraud Detection".
